The Democracy

‘Journalist Gouri Lankesh shot in front of her residence’, ‘RSS volunteers are getting murdered coz of political purpose’, these kind of statement we are listening now a days. When I hear these kinds of statements anywhere or I can say everywhere, then a question arises in my mind that is this democracy our founding fathers dreamt. Of course they didn’t but it is happening in our democratic country. A country that is considered as the greatest example of democracy, how can these undemocratic incidents happen in India? No one who even knows the Linkon’s definition of democracy will accept this.

Democracy is considered as a heaven for freedom. Of course our country has given proper respect to this serene approach since independence. But some incidents like mentioned above question that is our democracy as weak that it needs violence to press the voice of opposition. I think it is not the truth; we have decided to move on the path of non violence, brotherhood, equality, tolerance. So we must maintain these qualities in our values.

If anyone is not in support of other’s thoughts then it doesn’t mean that other is an object to be murdered. In democracy we must follow democratic ways to oppose anyone or to prove you. Undemocratic ways always lead towards demise of a democratic institution. This is the main idea that our politicians and alongside them all citizens of democratic country must keep in mind.

Use of power against verdict is wrong, but it’s in favor of verdict is also wrong (in fact worst). As our national father said that if we are going to achieve a pure destination then our way must also pure. We must keep this philosophy in our mind in order to keep alive our great values.
